Root Canal Therapy
Root canal treatment is sometimes the best solution for a tooth that has suffered severe decay, infection, or injury. Our dentist, uses extensive skill and experience to safely treat the infected tooth pulp and restore your tooth to its full function and appearance. It is recommended when the tooth pulp and nerves become infected or damaged. This may occur if injury or decay reaches deep into the tooth, past the outer enamel layer. When left untreated, this type of infection and disease may cause the tooth to die and necessitate tooth extraction.
To restore the health of the tooth and avoid the need for extraction, our skilled dentist will remove the infected and injured tissues from within the tooth, disinfect the tooth, and fill it with a permanent medicated material. We will then cap the tooth with a restoration, such as a dental crown, to return the tooth to its original shape and structure. In most cases, a root canal can be completed in only one or two comfortable visits to our office. Our dentist will work hard to provide you with a pleasant, comfortable experience each time you visit our office. Early access to dental care can help your child enjoy strong teeth well into adulthood. Waiting until your son or daughter has a toothache can make it stressful to find the best family dentist. That’s why we’ve brought affordable kids dental care at Falls Church, VA.
Your child can enjoy comprehensive care that eliminates dental diseases early, reduces the number of trips they need to the dentist later on, and decreases the amount that you spend on dental care.
Fluoride
Professional fluoride treatments for your kids after cleaning can help their teeth be resistant to cavity-causing acids. It also remineralizes weak enamel that may be on its way to decalcifying.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants can help children and adults alike maintain excellent oral health by providing a barrier between the teeth and cavity-causing bacteria. Our Falls Church, VA dentist is happy to provide undetectable dental sealants for long-lasting protection and peace of mind.
A sealant is a preventive dental treatment that our dentist may recommend to protect your teeth from decay. A dental sealant is made of a clear or tooth-colored resin material, which is painted onto the chewing surface of the tooth. By blocking out the bacteria and food debris that lead to tooth decay, the sealant prevents decay and cavities. The dental sealant forms a smooth surface over the natural pits and grooves of the tooth surface, which also makes it easier to effectively clean your teeth with normal brushing.
Dental sealants are most often recommended for children; our dentist frequently recommends sealants for the permanent molars as soon as they come in, which is usually between the ages of 6 and 12 years. We may also recommend dental sealants for adult patients whose teeth are prone to decay or for teeth that have not been restored or suffered from decay in the past. We can apply dental sealants in just one short, comfortable visit to our practice. Sealants can be a powerful tool in preventing decay and keeping your smile healthy. Invisalign
As the name implies, Invisalign clear aligners are made of almost invisible polyurethane plastic. Rather than being cemented or bonded to the teeth as metal or clear braces are, clear aligners are completely removable — for important social occasions, for eating, and, most importantly, for tooth-brushing and flossing. Here are some other advantages of the Invisalign system:
• Improved Oral Hygiene - With an orthodontic appliance that is removable, you will be able to clean your teeth much more easily than if you were wearing metal braces.
• A Discreet Look - If you consider your orthodontic treatment to be a private matter, or simply feel that metal braces don`t fit with your self-image, a practically invisible form of orthodontic treatment might suit you.
• More Dietary Choices - To protect metal wires and braces, some diet modifications are necessary. As the clear aligners are removable, major dietary modification are not required.
• Comfort - The soft, flexible material of which Invisalign is made will not irritate the soft tissues of the mouth, as metal wires and braces can.
• Teeth-Grinding Protection - If you have a teeth-grinding or clenching habit, clear aligners can function as thin nightguards that will protect your teeth from excessive wear.
How Invisalign Works
Invisalign clear aligners work the same way traditional braces do: by applying carefully controlled forces to teeth to move them into a better position. But they are not made of metal; instead, they are made of clear, flexible plastic.
Here`s how it works: Specialized computer software helps us design a plan for moving your teeth from their current positions into the best possible alignment. This movement will be broken down into perhaps several dozen stages. For each stage, the Invisalign company will manufacture plastic mouth trays or aligners, one to fit over your top teeth and one for the bottom. You will need to wear this first set of trays for two weeks, for a minimum of 20 hours per day. We then move on to the next set of aligners in your series to accomplish the next stage of gradual movement. You will keep doing this until your teeth are correctly aligned.
